A police officer in Cardiff is being criminally investigated for dangerous driving after two teenagers died in an e-bike crash.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed the probe into the South Wales police officer after the deaths in the Ely neighborhood of the Welsh capital in May.
After a police van followed them on CCTV, Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15, crashed on a Sur-Ron bike on Monday, May 22.
IOPC said the South Wales Police officer who drove the van is being criminally investigated for dangerous driving after previously receiving a gross misconduct notice.
The watchdog said a decision over potential disciplinary proceedings and any referral to the Crown Prosecution Service would be made at the end of the probe.

The sad incident sparked riots in the area, during which dozens of officers were injured, property was damaged, and cars were set alight.
The IOPC said it is “fully committed” to investigating the circumstances of the crash and will “ensure a thorough and independent investigation is carried out.”
The investigation is ongoing.
