Ajoka Theatre Group paid tribute to Saadat Hassan Manto, the famous fiction writer of the subcontinent. It was 21st September 2023 and the 12th day of the Pakistan Theater Festival at Karachi Arts Council. The name of the play “kaun hai yeh gustakh”, Shahid Nadeem, the writer of kaun hai yeh gustakh, called Manto his role model and said that the play covers Manto’s life.
Arts Council President Ahmed Shah was also present today. The play is written by Shahid Nadeem and directed by his wife Madeeha Gauhar who needs no introduction. In fact, this drama is the fruit of husband and wife diligent work.

Usman Raj, Mohammad Qaiser, Usman Zia, Kamran Mujahid, Bilal Mughal and other artists have played their roles in this game and have done full justice to their roles. This play was first produced in 2012 and tells the story of saadat hassan’s migration in 1948, as well as his life and events in Pakistan. Famous Pakistani artists also witnessed of this incredible play at the Arts Council. It was also attended by famous classical dancer Sheema Karmani and actress Savera Nadeem.

Savera Nadeem is the daughter of Shahid Nadeem, the writer of this play. Madiha Gohar is the stepmother of Savera Nadeem. Shahid Nadeem and Madeeha Gohar hold a big place in Pakistan’s literary circles. Madeeha Gohar is a brilliant director and actress and this Manto‘s play is a testament to her talent as a director.
